Apple is Planning to Launch iPhone 3GS in India For Just 19,990

Apple is planning to relaunch the iPhone 3GS into India @ just Rs. 19,990 to give a heavy competition to the Android Smartphones. It has already introduced the iPhone 4G in the Indian market, after successfully unveiling it to Aircel and Airtel operators.

According to TOI, the phone retailers across Mumbai and Delhi are already reporting the availability of stocks of the Factory Unlocked iPhone 3GS. This forms the best the Indian phones market could ever get officially. The other older models were way too expensive.

While the device is now exactly two years old -- the iPhone 3GS was first unveiled in June 2009 -- it still has something to offer for price sensitive buyers. Although the iPhone 3GS has a 600MHz processor and a 3.5-inch multitouch screen, it supports Apple's latest iOS 4.3, and Apple has pledged support for its upcoming iOS 5 for the device.

There are two color options available, White and Black.

Apple Patched Gevey Sim Unlock Exploit On iOS 5 Beta 2

According to MuscleNerd twitter account, and after some tests on iOS 5 beta 2, that Apple has successfully patch the hole used by Gevey SIM to unlock iPhone 4 on higher baseband. For who don't know Gevey SIM is a hardware used to unlock iPhone 4 on basebands that can't be unlocked with ultrasn0w.
it's surprising Apple closed Gevey interposer hole in b2 rather than waiting until final (maybe they were under pressure)

No more unlocking with Gevey SIM starting from iOS 5 beta 2 even with 'ultra' version of Gevey SIM, so we expect to see a significant drop in price during upcoming inventory sell off.

Definitely Gevey SIM's developers will start to upgrade their tool to beat Apple again, but likely this upgrade will start after iOS 5 official release by fall. On the other hand, dev-team should focus on developing ultrasn0w to unlock iPhone 5.

Airtel Facebook USSDN

Airtel has launched the world's first Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSDN) based Facebook access service in India. This service allows you to access everyone's favourite social network without an internet connection. Airtel users will be able to update their Facebook status for free, and for Rs. 1 a day, view/comment/like news feeds, post on walls, confirm friend requests, find and add friends, and view notifications.
Because USSD is a session-based communication, unlike SMS, which is transaction-based, it has significantly faster response times, and is more suited for content-based and interactive applications. It functions somewhat like a menu-based browser. The technology is unique to GSM, and is a built-in way to transmit data over signal channels. Airtel's USSD solution is based on Fonetwish, developed by U2opia Mobile.
